A Reason To Want Age Delaying and Reversal Treatments

Is it right to seek to be immortal, or at the very least ensure that we age in a healthy manner? Should we alter ourselves or replace body parts as one would change the water pump in a car? The answer is simple: YES! As technologies become available to allow us to live longer and be healthier they should be taken advantage of. To the critics out there that say it is unnatural to alter our bodies or change who we are I pose this question. Why go through the aging process and experience the break down of the biological machine if you do not have to? Who is going to take care of you and what will that quality of care be? For 1 out of 3 of us the care will be abuse if you plan to suffer out the rest of your days in an extended nursing facility. Here are some sobering statistics:

  • 1 of 3 nursing homes across the united states have been cited for nursing home abuse and other infractions.
  • 11% of nursing homes have been cited for improper dispensing of prescription drugs.
  • ¼ of the aids prosecuted for abusing patients have previous criminal records and 5% of nursing home aids across the nation have criminal records.
  • 1 to 2 million Americans over 65 have been abused, neglected, or mistreated by their primary caregiver.
  • 1 in 10 people over 65 will spend some of their lives in an adult care facility or nursing home.
  • 50% of nursing home patients suffer from untreated pain.
  • In 1999, 5,000 death certificates of nursing home patients listed dehydration, malnutrition, starvation, or bedsores as causes of death.
  • According to CNN just over 90% of nursing homes are UNDERSTAFFED. These staff shortages lead to increased instances of health problems, neglect, and abuse.
  • Only 16% of elder abuse cases are ever reported, according to the National Elder Abuse Incident Study.
  • Of reported abuse cases, 20% involve emotional abuse, 16% involve physical abuse, 3% sexual, and 12% involve caretaker neglect.
It is not death I fear, it is the aging I do not want. Technologies that prolong healthy aging and eventual immortality should be taken advantage of. I invite critics to take a trip one day to a few nursing homes. This is were many of us will end up as we age and can no longer take care of our selves. You can keep your so called natural human bodies.
